Waterworth wins Spring League

Congratulations to George Waterworth, who braved some unseasonable Summer  weather today, Sunday 29th May, to win the Porters Wood Spring League. On a rain and windswept afternoon George recorded 18 points to cement his lead at the top (it also won George the weekly comp too!). George recorded an astounding 160 points for his best 8 rounds out of 11 of stableford. He beat Phil Kearsley (157) and Paul Sinker (156) into second and third place respectively.

Collecting the remaining prizes were Rick Ishmael in fourth (146), Jo Kearsley fifth (144) and John Hoystead and Martin Ishmael were tied 6th (143).

Martin Ishmael won closest pin on the 7th - in the strong wind being the only player to hit and hold it on the green! Nick Eden was second on the day with 16 points.

The singles matchplay is still on-going with some very tight matches in the quarter-finals.

N. Eden bt W. Wainwright 11th hole

L. Phillips bt H. Davenport 11th hole

P. Sinker bt G. Waterworth 2&1

M. Ishmael bt J. Bennett 3&2

In the semi-finals Nick Eden will play Lee Phillips, and Paul Sinker will play Martin Ishmael. The Summer league will be starting this coming week with a Fourball Better ball running alongside. Remember, new players are more than welcome as we are keen to increase numbers. Please ask to speak to Martin for more information.
