Matchplay Results

The first round of the Porters Wood 9-hole matchplay saw a host of tight matches, with some great golf being played. The shock of the round was the defending champion, Rick Ishmael, getting a 4 & 3 hammering by the impresive George Waterworth! The competition is held over 9 holes with players playing from 3/4 handicaps.

Well done to Nick Eden who has already qualified for the semi-finals with a nailbiting win over Bill Wainwright on their second play-off hole. Nick is our youngest competitor aged 15, so it was a particularly impressive victory!


The Spring league is nearing its final stages with the top four in the league pulling away from the rest. Leading the way at the top, as he has done for the entire league season is Phil Kearsley with 119 points for his best 6 rounds out of 8 so far. However, both Paul Sinker and George Waterworth are closing the gap rapidly and are now only 2 points adrift on 117. Rick Ishmael lies fourth on 114 points.
